Project Description
The project studied replacing the light rail vehicles on Welton Street with streetcars. The objective is to help Welton Street and the Five Points District to become more vital, provide additional trip capacity, promote and enhance economic development in the corridor, and provide overall improvements to the urban realm.
Leese & Associates' Role
Leese & Associates developed alternatives for fitting a streetcar line into the existing right-of-way on Welton Street. Alternatives included: two way traffic, parking lanes, bicycle lanes, sidewalk widening, center loading, side loading, near side/far side, mid-block loading, etc.
