Denver West Express Railway, Denver to Vail, CO

Project Description

Denver West Express is a proposal to relieve congestion on I-70 by providing an alternate route to Colorado’s mountain resort communities that includes a high-capacity fixed guideway transit system to enable a single transfer ride for freight and passengers from DIA to the I-70 corridor ski resort towns and beyond. The alignment incorporates two major and three minor tunnel crossings, five stations (in addition to the existing DIA station) at US85/Mineral, Bailey, Frisco, Avon, and Vail, that would provide access to Fairplay, Buena Vista, South Park, Breckenridge, Keystone, Arapahoe Basin, Copper Mountain, Silverthorne/Dillon, Vail, Beaver Creek, Edwards, and Eagle, and terminate with a maintenance facility at Gypsum.
